Robert “Stretch” Newborn
Stretch has had a passion for vehicles from an early age. He began working at a body shop at the age of eleven. Now, with over thirty years’ experience, he has established himself as a professional automotive painter, mastering techniques such as hand-match coloring and minor collision work. Over twenty years ago, Stretch decided to take his love for auto repair beyond the walls of a body shop by starting a complete mobile business.
Along with being an expert in his field, Stretch spent over thirty years as a professional drag racer and car builder. He’s been world-recognized (stopped in 2008) and won national titles and is gifted in working with motors.
Vehicles aren’t Stretch’s only passion. He also loves helping children. As a Mason and Shriner, he volunteers often at the local Shriners children’s hospital. And when someone tells him, “Listen, we need a volunteer to drive a family to the children’s hospital,” Stretch drops whatever he’s doing, even if he’s covered in work. Stretch and his wife Kim have also provided RVs as housing to families when their children are in the hospital.
If you see Stretch outside his shop, he is probably wearing his Shriners ball cap. That cap opens doors for Stretch because when strangers see it, they know that they can ask him how to get assistance. And Stretch is happy to help.
